Sync/Async 2-Wire Manageable IDSL Modem

RAD's ASMi-31 sync/async IDSL modem is a 2-wire high speed, fully manageable short-range modem able to operate synchronously or asynchronously (full duplex) over a single twisted pair. ASMi-31 sync/async manageable IDSL modem’s operating range, more than four miles, is independent of the user-selected transmission rate. A wide variety of data interfaces are supported. The ASMi-31 sync/async IDSL modem is based on 2B1Q technology, enabling efficient transmission even over poor quality lines. Management, real-time alarms and diagnostics are provided.

The ASMi-31 sync/async IDSL manageable modem operates full duplex over twisted pair, 2-wire unconditioned lines. It has a transmission range of up to 8 km (5 miles) over 24 AWG cable and operates at user-selectable rates from 1.2 kbps to 128 kbps.

 

The ASMi-31 sync/async IDSL modem can also work opposite the DXC with D8U or D16U cards, or opposite the Megaplex with the U interface module.

 

SNMP management is available for the cards inside the rack via the management channel and for the customer premises standalone units. The RADview SNMP application running on an HP OpenView UNIX platform or PC supports management of the ASMi-31 sync/async manageable IDSL modem and other RAD modems.

The ASMi-31 sync/async IDSL modem is based on 2B1Q technology, which is common to both ISDN and DSL technologies. This line code enables efficient transmission over poor quality lines. Transmit timing is provided internally or recovered externally from the received signal. It can also be derived externally from the digital interface, enabling tail-end applications.
