SDH/SONET SDH/SONET - Fiber to the Building/Curb

Direct Connectivity to ADM

For buildings connected to the central office via fiber links at standard rates (e.g., STM-1/OC-3), RAD's Fiber-to-the-Building solution utilizes either the DXC-STM-1 multiservice access node or AMC-101 universal media converter/repeater. These devices consolidate traffic within the building and connect directly to the ADM in the central office via a dedicated STM-1 link. The AMC-101 universal media converter/repeater enables service providers to offer cost-effective extension of the STM-1 link over fiber and adjust to the type of media and connectors of the customers' equipment.

Market Segments

- Building Local Exchange Carrier (BLEC) or Incumbent Local Exchange Carrier (ILEC) that sell Local Loop services to buildings. AMC-101 enables carrier of carriers to sell bandwidth or service providers to sell an STM-1 link to end users

Features and Benefits of DXC-STM-1

- Serves as both ADM and service maltiplexer in a single, integrated chasis

- One-box solution saves costs and space, reducing the number of required ADM ports at the central office

- One set of management software for SDH ring and CPE devices results in flexible and highly responsive SDH access network

Features and Benefits of DFSTM1 Module in DXC

- Direct grooming from timeslots

- Cross connect with any module (n x 56/64 kbps, E1, T1, ISDN, IDSL, HDSL, DIM)

- Saves on ADM ports and the need for two boxes (combines STM-1 terminal and 1/0 cross connect DACS)

Features and Benefits of AMC-101

- Enables extension of the STM-1 link and media conversion, enabling easy adjustment to end-user devices

- AMC-101 is also a repeater, extending service reach to hundreds of kilometers
