Judges Impressed by the MiRIC’s Capability, Affordability, and SFP DesignTampa, FL, USA, June, 1: RAD Data Communication’s miniature remote Ethernet bridge, the MiRIC, took the top prize for “Best Telecom Equipment” at the 2006 UTC Expo in Tampa, Florida held on May 21-24, 2006.
The MiRIC is a first-of-its-kind, Small Form-Factor pluggable (SFP) Ethernet bridge. Measuring in at about the size of your thumb, the Multi-Source Agreement (MSA)-compliant MiRIC interoperates with a wide variety of Ethernet switches. This plug-and-play, point-to-point solution transports Ethernet traffic transparently over TDM WANs by simply plugging into an Ethernet switch on each end of the circuit. The MiRIC is available in a T1, T3, E1, or E3 configuration and connects to the WAN with either an RJ-45 or a fiber connector.
Both service providers and users alike can utilize MiRICs to provide transparent LAN services over leased lines, remote branch connectivity over T1/E1/T3/E3 links and connection of remote campus LANs.

Each year the industry’s leading luminaries and operatives converge on the UTC Expo floor to learn about the latest innovations in communications technologies and services.
Along with RAD Data Communications, other Expo exhibitors included Motorola, Alcatel, Phillips, NEC, GE Consumer & Industrial, Harris, ECI Telecom, and many more. While some of these companies had new telecom products that caught the attention of attendees and judges, none created nearly the buzz and excitement as RAD’s MiRIC.
