Optimux-106

Fiber Multiplexer for 4 T1 and Ethernet or Serial Data

The Optimux-106 fiber multiplexer for 4 T1 and Ethernet or serial data combines 4 T1 links and 10/100BaseT Ethernet over a fiber optic link for extension of Ethernet, voice, data and video services for point-to-multipoint enterprise connectivity and cellular backhaul.

The Optimux-106 fiber multiplexer for 4 T1 and Ethernet or serial data combines 75 Mbps Ethernet traffic and four T1 lines to provide a simple, low-cost solution for connectivity up to 74.5 miles (120 km).

Typical users of the Optimux-106 fiber multiplexer for 4 T1 and Ethernet or serial data are transportation and utility companies, universities and governments, Internet Service Providers (ISPs), and carriers extending data and voice from SONET networks or backhauling cellular traffic.

For greater reliability, an optional modular second link provides automatic backup upon link failure. An optional second power supply provides power redundancy for failsafe operation.

The competitively priced Optimux-106 is a compact, 1U, half-19-inch standalone unit.

Four channel T1 and Ethernet multiplexer

The Optimux-106 four T1 and Ethernet over fiber multiplexer combines four T1 links and 10/100BaseT Ethernet traffic over a fiber optic link.

A pair of Optimux-106 units offers simple and low-cost connectivity for four T1 channels and 75 Mbps at distances up to 74.5 miles (120 km).

An optional secondary link provides backup using automatic switchover upon link failure, and an optional secondary power supply provides power redundancy and fail-safe operation.

Reliable T1 transmission

The Optimux-106 four T1 and Ethernet over fiber multiplexer transmits each of the T1 signals independently, keeping the clock of each T1 channel independent from the clock of any other T1 channel. The T1 interface is 100Ω balanced.

Various optical interfaces are available:

  • 850 nm VCSEL for use with multimode fiber
  • 1310 nm for use with multimode fiber
  • 1310 nm or 1550 nm laser short or long haul for extended range over single mode fiber
  • single mode over fiber option
  • LRS-102 modem rack can work opposite and manage 24 Optimux-106 units

Card versions with central SNMP management are available for mounting in a rack. These provide a compact, cost-effective central solution working opposite standalone
Optimux-108 units.

Configuration, monitoring and maintenance operations can be performed via a supervisory port, using either an ASCII terminal, Telnet host, Web terminal or an SNMP management station.

This is done via a dedicated Ethernet port in the Optimux-106.

The SNMP management supports:

  • RADview for PC
  • RADview for HP OpenView UNIX platforms

To facilitate system diagnostics, the Optimux features LED status indicators, AIS alarm generation, recognition, and dry contact closure upon link failure.
